Military veterans can get discounts at these Charlotte-area stores. See where

Charlotte Observer - 3/6/2023

A trip to a Lowe’s in Mooresville to buy an appliance turned into an “embarrassing” situation for a local couple.

Last fall, longtime customer Sam Newman and his wife, Fran, expected to receive a 10% military discount on a dishwasher. But they were shocked to learn the offer was no longer valid, The Charlotte Observer reported.

In a Dec. 5 letter to Lowe’s , the Newmans said the company never notified veterans that the company had changed its military discount policy to exclude major appliances, lumber and other big-ticket items.

“That was embarrassing for us,” the couple, who retired after selling their Lake Norman Pest Control business in 2011, wrote in the letter.
