— Start baking gingerbread: Deadlines are looming for the 29th annual National Gingerbread House Competition at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina. You'll need to make your intentions known by 5 p.m. Monday using the entry form on the hotel's website, then submit a photo of your entry, video content and a description by 5 p.m.Nov. 15 for the first round of (virtual) judging. You'll still have a week for tweaks. Changes can be made to your entry until Nov. 21, when registration is held on-site. The awards ceremony is Nov. 22. Public viewing of the entries will be on select dates Nov. 28-Jan. 2. Last year's contest, which was completely virtual, included winners from Blue Ridge, Georgia.
