Georgia Department of Veterans Services to resume in-person services June 15

Augusta Chronicle - 6/4/2020

Jun. 3--The Georgia Department of Veterans Services will be resuming in-person visits at Veterans Field Service offices on June 15 by appointment only.

"While our staff continued to assist veterans and their families electronically or via telephone during the outbreak of COVID-19, we temporarily suspended in-person services in March," GDVS Commissioner Mike Roby said in a release. "To protect the safety of our employees and visitors, we made necessary changes to our procedures. I am pleased that with these changes, we will be able to reopen to scheduled in-person visits with veterans on June 15."

Veterans interested in scheduling an appointment can contact their local field service office. In Augusta, the Augusta VA Medical Center can be reached at (706) 733-0188 ext. 2336 and the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home at (706) 721-4301.

Visitors will be screened upon arrival to their scheduled appointment and will be asked to wear a mask when visiting any of the offices. Social distancing should be observed while in waiting areas or while speaking with field service officers.
