Colorado Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (COESGR) is a Department of Defense office, led and operated by dedicated volunteers and staff whose mission is to gain and maintain employer support for Guard and Reserve service members by increasing awareness of applicable federal labor law, resolving conflicts through mediation, recognizing outstanding support and developing initiatives to increase employment opportunities for Guard and Reserve military service members and veterans. This dedicated field committee includes a continually growing cadre of well over 150 volunteers reaching out to employers and military service members throughout Colorado. ESGR's principle functions include: employer outreach, military outreach, ombudsmen and employment services. The Employer Outreach directorate educates companies, ensuring they understand their rights and responsibilities under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). The Military Outreach directorate instructs Guard and Reserve units, informing them of the service member's rights and responsibilities under USERRA. Ombudsmen are neutral, third-party negotiators working with the employer and service member to resolve issues arising from the employee's military commitments. The Employment Initiatives directorate and the Hero2Hired Employment Coordinator assist service members, veterans, spouses and family members over 18 years of age in finding work.
