Land-Grant and National Veterans Memorial and Museum team up for new beer

Akron Beacon Journal - 10/16/2019

Land-Grant Brewing Co. and the National Veterans Memorial and Museum have teamed up to create a collaboration beer to help celebrate the museum's first anniversary in downtown Columbus.

The beer, a pale ale, is called Four Pillars and was inspired by the four pillars of the museum's mission: honor, connect, inspire and educate. The brewery said a portion of the proceeds will benefit the museum.

"When on our tours of the museum, our guides were always coming back to this idea of Four Pillars," Land-Grant co-founder and President Adam Benner said in a prepared statement. "The striking architecture of the building doesn't actually have any columns in the traditional sense, so these conceptual pillars are really what hold up the museum as a world class institution, one we're beyond proud to have here in Columbus and to call our neighbors."

The brewery said the colorful can design draws inspiration from the museum's Remembrance Gallery exhibit featuring stained glass representing major military medals dating to the Civil War.

"We are proud to honor all veterans, connect our communities, inspire our nation and educate every generation about the importance of service and sacrifice," Lt. General Michael Ferriter, U.S. Army (Retired), president and CEO of the National Veterans Memorial and Museum, said in a prepared statement. "When we learned about the many ways Land-Grant supports our communities through storytelling, we were excited to explore opportunities to celebrate Veterans' contributions to our nation together."

Four Pillars is 5.3% alcohol by volume and features Ekuanot, Cascade, and Centennial hops.

The beer will be available on draft and available six-packs for $9.99 at the brewery taproom starting Friday (Oct. 18) and will be distributed to the Central Ohio retailers on Monday.
